Public Dissemination Event: Prospects & Challenges of Carbon Farming
On February 14th, TheoRI held a highly engaging dissemination event titled “Prospects and Challenges of Carbon Farmon”. This initiative aimed to inform farmers about the concept of carbon farming, the existing policy framework, how it relates to existing agro-environmental schemes and how it may prove beneficial for the climate, the farm and the farmer. Delivered in Greek, the aim of this initiative is to raise awareness and promote a broader understanding amongst farmers about carbon farming and its relation to existing farming practices. The event joined 26 participants onsite (38,4% female) and 24 participants online (48,5% female).
The event was hosted at the Commercial Chamber of Lesvos, Greece, and chaired by Prof. Iosif Botetzagias, Department of Environment, University of the Aegean, Greece, & TheoRI Senior Researcher. The participants were welcomed by Dimitris Voloudakis, Capacity Building Director of New Agriculture New Generation, who explained the aim and framework of the Carbon Farming Hub Erasmus+ project.
