CarboFarmHub: Advancing the project in Seville with Planning, Exchange & Field Inspiration
The Carbon Farming Awareness Hub (CarboFarmHub) project continues to move forward with strong collaboration and commitment among partners. On March 12, 2025, the consortium met in Seville, Spain, for its third transnational project meeting, hosted by ECOVALIA at their headquarters. The meeting gathered representatives from all six project partners to review the current progress of the project and plan the next steps as the final stages approach.
The session began with an update on WP1 – Project Management, presented by Centoform, covering coordination issues, budget tracking and administrative progress. Following this, the Academy of Entrepreneurship (AKEP) from Greece reported on the completion of WP2 – Design the Framework of Initiatives, providing an overview of the training materials and activities created for young farmers. Later in the day, ECOVALIA provided an update on WP4 – Communication and Dissemination, highlighting the dissemination actions carried out to date and the remaining tasks to be completed.
The discussion then focused on WP3 – Piloting the Framework of Initiatives, where all partners shared the results of their local events and stakeholder initiatives, along with plans for upcoming months to ensure the full implementation of this work package before the project concludes. The meeting was led and coordinated by NEW AGRICULTURE NEW GENERATION, ensuring that all sessions remained focused and on track, while also planning the next steps of the project.
The session concluded with a discussion about next activities, final outputs, and partner responsibilities for the final phase of the project. It was an important opportunity to reinforce cooperation, exchange good practices, and prepare for the final reports.
On March 13, the consortium visited Cortijo El Puerto, a model farm located near Seville, known for its application of sustainable and organic practices. The visit included a guided tour of the olive oil production facilities and a detailed explanation of the carbon farming techniques being implemented on the farm, such as soil improvement, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable water management. This inspiring visit highlighted the practical impact of carbon farming and its contribution to climate action.
In the afternoon, the first Spanish National Dissemination Event of the CarboFarmHub project took place at the University Pablo de Olavide (UPO) in Seville. The event brought together over 60 participants, both online and on-site, who had the opportunity to learn about the project’s objectives, the EU’s policy framework, and how carbon farming practices can support sustainable livestock systems.
With strong partner collaboration and impactful local actions, the project continues to build momentum in raising awareness and promoting climate-resilient farming systems. The next and final project meeting will be held in Lisbon, οn September 2025, and will be hosted by AGROBIO, the project partner from Portugal. This closing meeting will be key to wrapping up the project’s outcomes and sharing final results with a broader European audience.
